Blue Sun e’ il disco d’esordio della prog-band The Ikan Method, un album di rock progressivo ispirato dai grandi gruppi del new prog anni ’80 e ’90 (in particolare Marillion e IQ), senza dimenticare anche l’influenza dei primi Genesis.Tutta la musica ed i testi sono stati composti e scritti da Luca Grosso, che qui suona la batteria e le tastiere, coadiuvato da validi musicisti della scena italiana rock, prog e metal.I pezzi sono ricchi di melodie, con intrecci di chitarre e tastiere, sostenuti da una solida base ritmica, per meta’ cantati e per un’altra meta’ strumentali.Gli arrangiamenti e l’atmosfera generale dell’album si tingono di una una vena malinconica che racconta, attraverso musica e parole, di sensazioni e esperienze di vita, sia interiori che sociali, che fotografano un periodo buio della nostra società ovvero quello attuale.Un ‘sole triste’, la traduzione letterale di ‘blue sun’, che in un concetto racchiude tutta l’alienazione e il disagio di un mondo che si è fatto schiavo della tecnologia, dove l’individuo è isolato l’uno dall’altro, in una sorta di ‘gabbia dorata’ dove regna la solitudine.
Blue Sun is the debut album of the prog-band The Ikan Method, a progressive rock album inspired by the great groups of the new prog 80s and 90s (in particular Marillion and IQ), without forgetting the influence of early Genesis.
All the music and lyrics were composed and written by Luca Grosso, who plays drums and keyboards here, assisted by skilled musicians from the Italian rock, prog and metal scene.
The pieces are full of melodies, with intertwining of guitars and keyboards, supported by a solid rhythmic base, for half sung and for another instrumental half.
The arrangements and the general atmosphere of the album are tinged with a melancholy vein that tells, through music and words, of feelings and life experiences, both internal and social, that photograph a dark period of our society or the current one.
A ‘sad sun’, the literal translation of ‘blue sun’, which in a concept encompasses all the alienation and unease of a world that has become enslaved by technology, where the individual is isolated from each other , in a sort of ‘golden cage’ where solitude reigns.
